collection Description
The Bega Valley Historical Society holds a small collection of nine locally crafted wooden hand tools known as the McPaul collection. These tools were created by Yuin people near Tanja in the 1880s and were given to a local teacher, Mr. Thomas Henry McPaul. Mr. McPaul worked closely with the Yuin people, and when he moved to Sydney in 1889, they gifted him these tools, which he took with him. In 2001, Mr. McPaul’s descendants donated the collection to the Bega Valley Historical Society and the Bega Pioneers Museum.
